Ethics Training

All Red River Parish School Board employees are bound by the Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics.

The goals of these policies are:

  • To ensure the public confidence in the integrity of government
  • To ensure the independence and impartiality of elected officials and public employees
  • To ensure that governmental decisions and policy are made in the proper channel of the government structure
  • To ensure that public office and employment are not used for private gain

To report Ethics violations please refer to Louisiana Board of Ethics Procedures. More information about the Code of Governmental Ethics can be found at the Louisiana Ethics Administration Program website.

All Red River Parish School Board employees are required to take one hour of training per calendar year on the Code of Governmental Ethics pursuant to LA R.S.42:1170A. Failure to comply carries fines up to $10,000 for the individual employee. As a public agency, Red River Parish School System is required to provide to the Louisiana Ethics Administration a complete list of our employees including all classifications (full time, part time, substitutes, contracted workers, student workers, etc.) along with documentation of their having completed annual Ethics Training.

Once you have completed the training(s),

  • Print your certificate and select the printer that says, “PRINT TO FILE” and save it to your computer. Upload your certificate to the Google Form that is listed under this training module (Scroll down the page).

Please remember to complete your training as early in the school year as possible and give your certificate to your supervisor/principal for upload. Remember also to complete your “Ethics Training & Compliance Form”.

Preventing Sexual Harassment

ACT 270 of the 2018 Regular Session requires that each public servant complete a minimum of one hour of preventing sexual harassment training annually by calendar year. This includes full-time, part-time, contracted, substitute, student workers, and any other person receiving compensation through Red River Parish School System.

There are two “Preventing Sexual Harassment Training” video links—one for employees and one for supervisorThese links can only be accessed through www.rrbulldogs.com. Each training is one hour long and will include questions to be answered correctly for completion. At the end of the training, you will be able to print a completion certificate. NOTE: There is no live or DVD presentations of the training. Each employee must complete this training online.

Employee Training

This course is designed to raise awareness regarding the prevention of sexual harassment. The course contains interviews with individuals who are considered field experts on the topic and prevention of sexual harassment. This course offers general knowledge of what could be considered sexual harassment along with practical steps that can be taken to prevent sexual harassment from happening in the workplace. This course also offers printable resources that can be used to assist with increasing awareness and/or responding to potentially sexually harassing situations. This course meets the 1 hour training requirement as outlined ACT 270 of the 2018 regular session.

REPORT VIOLATION

EMPLOYEE SEXUAL HARASSMENT

    Supervisor Training

    This course is designed to raise the awareness of supervisors regarding the prevention of sexual harassment. The course includes a self-assessment to help supervisors identify potential areas for improvement. The course also presents practical strategies supervisors can use to prevent sexual harassment in our workplace. This course meets the requirements for supervisors to receive training on preventing sexual harassment as required by ACT 270 of the 2018 regular session.

    EMPLOYEE SEXUAL HARASSMENT

    Cybersecurity Awareness

    R.S. 42:1267 enacted in June 2020 requires that each public servant complete Cybersecurity Training annually by calendar year. This includes full-time, part-time, contracted, substitute, student workers, and any other person receiving compensation through Red River Parish School System.

    The link to training can only be accessed through the school system computers. The training is about 30 minutes long, requires that you click through, and includes questions to be answered correctly for completion. At the end of the training, you will be able to print a completion certificate to upload to your campus google folder.

    Your login and password is the same as your school computer login and password. If you do not have a login and password or if you are having problem login in, please contact the Technology department (Stephen Long slong@rrbulldogs.com) for assistance.

    Once you have completed the training(s):

    Bullying Awareness

    Under Act 861 enacted in 2012, school employees are required to participate in four hours of training to learn how to detect, prevent and end bullying. Teachers or other school personnel who receive a complaint about bullying must verbally notify the principal on the day of incident and in writing within two days of the incident. The principal must notify parents and launch an investigation on the day of the incident. The investigation must be completed with ten days.

    Suicide Prevention Training

    R.S. 17:437.1 requires all public school teachers, school counselors, principals, and other school administrators for whom such training is deemed beneficial participate annually in at least two hours of training in suicide prevention.

    If you have not used the Jason Foundation site before, you will need to register by clicking on “Register”. If you have forgotten your password click on “Forgot your password?”

    Once you have logged-in, you will be given the choice of taking (2) one hour courses or (1) two hour course by clicking on the boxes. You can choose whatever course as long as the training is equivalent to two hours.

    Once you have completed the training(s),

    Mandatory Reporter Training

    R.S. 14:403 requires that any person who, pursuant to Children’s Code Article 609(A), is required to report the abuse or neglect of a child and knowingly and willfully fails to so report shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both.

    This training will help you:

    1. Recognize who is a mandated reporter and who is a permissive reporter.
    2. Understand the legal obligations of a mandated reporter.
    3. Make a report of suspected abuse and/or neglect to DCFS through either the Child Abuse Hotline or the Online Mandated Reporter Portal, and how to submit a follow-up report.
    4. Recognize the signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect.
    5. Identify groups of children at higher risk for abuse/neglect.
    6. Apply techniques to use if a child discloses abuse or neglect to you.
    7. Learn your rights and obligations as a mandated reporter. In return, you will help keep children safe and build stronger families in Louisiana.

    Bloodborne Pathogens

    OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) requires employers to provide information and training to workers. Employers must offer this training on initial assignment, at least annually thereafter, and when new or modified tasks or procedures affect a worker’s risk of occupational exposure. To complete the training, click the picture. You will fill in your information, watch a short video, and answer a few questions. You can print your results to give to your supervisor. Every employee must complete this training.

    Homeless Education Training (McKinney-Vento)

    Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the U.S. Department of Education, all staff within our school district are mandated to complete training on the laws related to homelessness and ways to properly identify these students. This training is not only required, but it is also very important as we aim to increase the identification of homeless students in our district, impacting Local Educational Agency (LEA) funding for students experiencing homelessness and for Homeless Education Programs.

    Each employee can only submit one form. However, you can resubmit the same form as many times as you need.
